»Design promoviert« ist die Nachwuchsförderung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Designtheorie und -forschung (DGTF). Seit 2009 gewinnt das Netzwerk von Designpromovierenden stetig an Relevanz und Zuwachs. An den zweimal jährlich stattfindenden Kolloquien versammeln sich Promotionsinteressierte und Designpromovierende, um aktuelle Themen, Inhalte und Rahmenbedingungen zu diskutieren. Darüber hinaus versteht sich »Design promoviert« als Interessengemeinschaft von jungen Designtheoretiker*innen und -forschenden mit dem Ziel, Design als eigenständige, promotionsrelevante Disziplin zu vertreten und damit die Institutionalisierung von Promotionsmöglichkeiten an (Kunst-)Hochschulen und Universitäten in Deutschland voranzutreiben.
Das Kolloquium findet zweimal im Jahr an einem Hochschulstandort im deutschsprachigen Raum statt. Es bietet Promotionsinteressierten und Designpromovierenden eine Gelegenheit, ihre Forschungsthemen unter Gleichgesinnten zur Diskussion zu stellen. Vorträge zu erfolgreich abgeschlossenen Promotionen im Designbereich runden die Veranstaltung ab. Das Kolloquium lebt von der aktiven Teilnahme. Präsentationen, Diskussionen, Zwischenstände sowie konstruktive Kritik sind erwünscht.
Während die Veranstaltung einmal im Jahr an die Jahreskonferenz der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Designtheorie und -forschung (DGTF) anschließt, findet das Kolloquium zum zweiten mal im Frühjahr als eigenständige Veranstaltung statt.
Alle Einreichungen werden in einem Review-Verfahren von unabhängigen Gutachter*innen beleuchtet.

»Design promoviert« is dedicated to the support of young talent(s) in academia and funded by the DGTF. Since 2009 the network of PhD students of design has been steadily gaining relevance and growth. At the colloquia, which takes place twice a year, those interested in doctoral studies and PhD students of design gather to discuss current topics, contents and framework conditions. In addition, »Design promoviert« sees itself as a community of young design theorists and researchers with the goal of representing design as an independent discipline relevant to doctoral studies and thus advancing the institutionalization of doctoral opportunities at (art) colleges and universities in Germany.
The colloquium takes place twice a year at a university location in the German-speaking world. It offers those interested in doctoral studies and design PhD students an opportunity to present their research topics for discussion among like-minded people. Presentations on successfully completed doctorates in the field of design round off the event. The colloquium thrives on active participation. Presentations, discussions, interim results as well as constructive criticism are welcome.
While the event follows the annual conference of the German Society for Design Theory and Research (DGTF) once a year, the second colloquium takes place in spring as an independent event.
All submissions will be examined by independent reviewers.
